It is easy to assume that that this level of detail in notes is not needed, until it becomes clear that women can indeed forget the location of their implant. However, if we are to advise our patients that the point of an intrauterine device/system or an implant is that they can “fit and forget” it then we should expect them to do just that. Maybe an app to record the relevant details on the woman's phone would also help?
